Subject
ps random selection results

		Hi Mike.

I put the files from the random site selection using a 1,000 m exclusion
radius into ftp:
		ftp://ftpint.usgs.gov/private/er/il/urbana/NAWQA/simplerandomselect.zip

If you remember our discussion about the fewer number of wells used for
the selection than were in your spreadsheet, the glacial was down 1 well.
I looked at that one more closely because I have the original glacial
aquifer coverage. The well definitely should have overlaid the aquifer
but didn't because it got clipped to a coverage of the US that may have
been shifted over time (from cleaning, etc). I clipped my original
glacial boundary to the neatline encompassing the whole NE US and ran
sample.aml using that version of the coverage instead of the one you
provided -- I got all of the glacial wells. It didn't make a big
difference in the overall outcome, but I feel better about it ;)

		The zip file contains:
		1) simplerandomselect.gdb a file geodatabase with shapefile versions of
the coverages I used in the site selection
		2) sample.080520.xxxxxx (5 files) text files recording the input/output of
running sample.aml for each of the 5 aquifers.
These show the options that were selected
		3) pa_ps.mxd ArcGIS map document showing the results of the site
selections (all data is in the simplerandomselect.gdb)

		4) emeso_meso.rpt Text file output from sample.aml showing list of sites
selected for the Early Mesozoic aquifers
glacbnd_glac.rpt Text file output from sample.aml showing list of
sites selected for the Glacial aquifer system
nacp_nacp.rpt Text file output from sample.aml showing list of sites
selected for the Northern Atlantic coastal plain aquifer system
nyne_nyne.rpt Text file output from sample.aml showing list of sites
selected for the New York/New England crystalline rock aquifers
pied_pied.rpt Text file output from sample.aml showing list of sites
selected for the Piedmont/Blue Ridge crystalline rock aquifers

		5) pa_glac.jpg JPEG showing selected sites in the respective aquifer
pa_nacp.jpg JPEG showing selected sites in the respective aquifer
pa_nyne.jpg JPEG showing selected sites in the respective aquifer
pa_pied.jpg JPEG showing selected sites in the respective aquifer
pa_nacp_wellsoutside.jpg JPEG showing sites in and outside of the
aquifer coverage area
pa_nyne_wellsoutside.jpg JPEG showing sites in and outside of the
aquifer coverage area
pa_pied_wellsoutside.jpg JPEG showing sites in and outside of the
aquifer coverage area

		6) selected_sites.xls Excel spreadsheet with a README worksheet
describing the contents of the file and 5 worksheets showing
the IDs of the public supply wells selected for each aquifer along
with selection preferences (chosen order)
and an indicator of whether or not the well was inside or outside the
coverage area.

If you have any questions or want something done differently, let me know.
